What you can build with QR3D
QR3D does two things that normally need two separate tools: it designs the QR code and turns it into a physical, printable object. The result isn't an image glued onto a piece: the code is built in relief, as a piece independent from the base, so your slicer can assign it a different filament and the contrast survives printing.
The whole process happens inside your browser. No link, WiFi password or logo is ever uploaded to any server, and no account is needed to download anything.
Why a 3D-printed QR code needs its own generator
A printed QR code works by contrast, not by relief. If you print the code and the base in the same color, the phone's camera sees a uniform surface with shadows that change with the light: sometimes it reads, sometimes it doesn't. That's why QR3D exports a 3MF file with the pieces and their colors already assigned, and warns in real time when the chosen combination doesn't have enough contrast.
The second problem is size. Each module (each little square of the code) needs to be at least 1.5 mm to be reproduced with clean edges by a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. The tool calculates that measurement live while you design and warns you if the link is too long for the piece size you picked.

Common questions
Is it really free?
Yes. You can create, customize and download as many codes and models as you want without signing up and without a watermark. The project runs on advertising, not on limiting downloads.
Do I need a 3D printer?
For the physical object, yes (or a printing service). But the PNG and SVG downloads of the code work on their own: they're fine for signs, vinyl decals, cards or sending to a print shop.
Which file should I download, 3MF or STL?
3MF if your slicer is modern (Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer or recent Cura): it contains the pieces with their colors already assigned. STL is the fallback for older software, and downloads as a ZIP with one piece per color.
Does the QR code expire or stop working?
No. The codes QR3D generates are static: they point directly to your link and don't depend on any server of ours. If this site ever closed, your printed codes would keep working.
Can I put my logo in the center?
Yes, and an emoji too. On the 3D object the logo automatically becomes a single-color silhouette, which is the only thing that makes sense on a printed piece. Adding a logo raises the error correction to the high level to compensate for the covered modules.
Can a 3D-printed QR code actually be scanned?
Yes, as long as you respect three things: real contrast between the two colors, modules of 1.5 mm or more, and a clear margin around the code. The tool checks all three and warns you before you download.
What material is best?
Matte PLA for indoors: it's easy to print and the matte finish reflects less light and scans better than glossy. For outdoors or keychains, PETG for durability. Avoid glittery filaments on the code piece.
Do you store my links or WiFi passwords?
No. All the processing happens in your browser: the data you type never travels to any server. You can check this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads: the tool keeps working.
