What it's actually for
A table number with a QR code solves two problems at once. The server can spot the table at a glance when carrying an order, and the customer can order or pay from their phone with nobody needing to ask which table they're at: the number already travels inside the link.
That's the key technical detail. If your ordering system accepts a table parameter in the address (something like yourmenu.com/order?table=7), each piece carries its own code and the order arrives already assigned. If it doesn't support that, every table can share the same link and the number is just for staff.
How to generate the full set
- Pick the 'Table number' format and type your ordering system's link with the number at the end.
- Put the number in its field: it will appear large and embossed above the code.
- Adjust colors and size, check the warnings and download the 3MF.
- Repeat, changing the number and the link's parameter for each table.
Design tips
- Give the number a different color from the code: it's easier to spot from a distance and looks more polished. The model exports three independent pieces.
- One or two digits: beyond three the number gets small. For large venues, use letters by zone (A1, B2).
- 85-100 mm size: the number should be visible from the door.
- A weighted base: raise infill to 20% if your tables move around a lot.
Common questions
Do I need a different QR code per table?
Only if your ordering system uses the table number in the link. For a regular menu, the same code works for every table and you just change the embossed number.
Can I use letters instead of numbers?
Yes, the field accepts up to three characters: works for 'A1', '12' or 'B'.
Can it be double-sided?
The current model has the number and the code on the same angled face. A number visible from both sides would need a different geometry that would print with supports.
How much does it cost to make 30 tables?
In filament, roughly $15-25 for 30 pieces at 85 mm — figures vary by country and filament brand. In printer time, about 40-60 hours spread across batches.
What happens if I switch ordering systems?
The codes point to the old address and would need reprinting. If you expect changes, use your own link that redirects, so you only change the redirect.
