Where to place it and what size
The plaque's size depends on the distance it'll be scanned from. The industry rule of thumb is that the code's side should be roughly a tenth of the reading distance: to scan from one meter, a 10 cm code.

Place it at eye level or a bit below, never above 1.8 m: the phone's camera needs to be able to frame it head-on. Avoid putting it directly across from a window or under a spotlight: reflections are enemy number one.
How to mount it on the wall
- Foam double-sided tape (3M VHB or similar): the most convenient, no holes, holds up for years on smooth surfaces. The go-to option for rentals and vacation properties.
- Screws through the two holes: permanent, for outdoors or high-traffic areas. The generated holes are 4.6 mm, good for 3.5-4 mm screws with a wall anchor.
- A magnet glued on the back: useful on commercial kitchens and metal surfaces.
Finishing tips
A plaque with rounded corners looks far more professional than a rectangular one: the model already generates them. If you're printing several, print them together on the same bed but leave enough spacing so the filament change doesn't drag material between pieces.
Common questions
How thick should the plaque be?
Between 3 and 4 mm. Under 2 mm the piece warps from heat or from being stuck to a wall that isn't perfectly flat.
Can I print it without holes?
The holes are part of the plaque model. If you'd rather glue it, just ignore them: they stay discreet in the upper strip. You can also use the table-stand format if you don't want perforations.
Does it hold up in a humid bathroom?
Yes, both PLA and PETG are stable with ambient humidity. In a direct shower spray, PETG is the better choice.
How much text fits?
Up to about 28 characters on one line. Longer phrases shrink the font size so much they stop being readable at a distance; 'FREE WIFI' works better than 'Connect to our free wifi network'.
Can the code and the text have different colors?
Yes. The model exports as three independent pieces: base, code and text, each with its own color.
